Rental and participation in the Donelson Community Garden is contingent on reading and agreeing to the terms of service below.
To indicate you read and agree to the following terms of service, please enter the "magic word", found in the contents of these terms in your application below.
All gardeners should be aware that the property of Donelson Community Garden is public property, owned by the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County. Metro Government graciously allows use of the space for this garden site by way of an annual lease agreement at no charge to the Donelson Community Garden (DCG).
We strive to make our garden accessible to all who would like to use it, including individuals with disabilities.
In the event of an emergency, immediately call 911; in non-life-threatening situations, call (724) 249-9207.
All participants acknowledge that DCG and/or its directors are not liable for garden damage due to Nature, acts of God, wildlife or other unforeseen circumstances.
We (DCG) are responsible for the following:
‣ Plot assignment
‣ Soil testing and amendment
‣ Plowing and/or tilling
‣ Use of OMRI-labeled fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides
‣ Maintenance of all common areas and paths
‣ Composting and rainwater collection
‣ Providing tools* for communal use
Participants are responsible for the following:
‣ Maintain assigned plot
‣ Removal and disposal of plant refuse, i.e. husks, dried vines, etc.
‣ Return of cleaned communal tools after use
‣ Watering assigned plot while practicing wise water use. (This includes bringing your own water for raised beds.)
‣ Cleaning out garden box at the end of season and moving plant material to compost bins.
‣ Trash
‣ ALL participants are asked to volunteer at least 1 weekend (2 hours) per month during the growing season to contribute to the upkeep and maintenance of our garden.
Remember, we are volunteer-run, and we can't keep our garden nice without your help!
The following materials are prohibited at all DCG sites:
‣ Drugs and illegal substances, including medical marijuana, are prohibited from all garden sites.
.‣ Illicit behavior and disorderly conduct will not be tolerated.
‣ The use of manures, herbicides and/or pesticides by participants is prohibited at all garden sites. magic word is carrot. The use of bio-solids is expressly prohibited.
‣ Invasive species are prohibited from being planted at all sites; should a species be identified, it will be removed, and the responsible party may forfeit their membership without refund.
‣ We love pets, but they are not permitted within garden at any time. (This is strictly enforced for the safety of our gardeners.) No pets inside the fence.
* Tobacco products and their use are prohibited, as it goes against our mission to promote a healthy lifestyle and a family-friendly atmosphere for participants of all ages.
* Grilling, unauthorized planting, and/or social activities are strictly prohibited without prior approval.
Any violation of these prohibitions may result in prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.
Planting is only allowed in the participants assigned box.
Only harvest from the box you are assigned.
If you participate in the communal row gardens you will be shown what areas to use and we will work as a team to plant, cultivate and harvest crops.
Our garden will provide tools that may be required to properly maintain participant plots (i.e. hoes, rakes, spades, etc.)
It is the responsibility of our participants to clean and return all tools after their use.
NO vehicles are allowed within the fenced area.

Gardeners are encouraged to practice water-wise gardening techniques, and will be asked to bring your own water for raised beds and boxes to help conserve water on the grounds.
NO DUMPING OF ANY MATERIAL IS ALLOWED ON THE GARDEN SITE.
We welcome donations for seeds! Please contact a member of our board to set up a time to schedule a drop off. Thank you for your generosity!
*These terms of service are in place to promote a safe and friendly gardening experience for everyone.
Violation of these guidelines are subject to termination without a refund, and will not be welcome back to participate in the community garden.*
