Donelson Community Garden (DCG) is a volunteer based, 501(c)3 nonprofit that provides a space for anyone in our community the opportunity to participate in sustainable food growth, community engagement, and intergenerational & cross cultural community partnership.
We are a pesticide free, organic garden. Dumping materials of any kind on our site is strictly prohibited.
Donelson Community Garden is community-focused, and we encourage all participants to engage with their neighbors, help others in need, and promote social responsibility.
We welcome family and individual participation alike!
We are excited to be offering educative programs and service-learning opportunities to young and old alike this growing season.
*Although children of all ages are welcome at our garden site, those 16 years and younger require adult supervision at all times.*
Since starting in 2012, DCG has donated over 3 thousand pounds of produce to our friends and neighbors in need. Come join us this year as we continue to grow with our community.
Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.
All are welcome here, regardless of age or experience. If you'd like to rent a raised bed, please visit the "sign up to grow" page for more information.
Not enough time to tend to a raised bed? Thats okay!
You can still participate by volunteering your time or joining us for events and workshops. Starting May 18, 2024, we'll be hosting community days from 10-noon. No signups required, just come prepared wearing clothes you don't care about, sturdy shoes, and sun protection. Supplies provided.
The cost to rent a 4 x 8 raised garden box for the growing season is $50, plus a $15 community participation fee. These fees help cover maintenance and material costs that support our community initiatives.
*Scholarships are available for those in need.
Regular maintenance is key to a successful garden. We strongly recommend checking on your garden box at least once a week, watering as needed, and tending to any weeds or pests.
You can follow us on social media or sign up for our newsletter to receive updates on events, workshops, volunteer opportunities, and more!
